Hi all,
A few months ago my handbrake pad on the left hand rear rotor started squealing so i had to pull the rotor off and inspect the pad. In the process of remove the rotor i missed the wood i was using to knock it off (Was on pretty tight) and i hit the rotor with the hammer and left a small indentation in the rotor. My question is can i get that machined out of do i now need to replace the rotor, Well rotors as you do them in pairs.

How big is the indentation, I would try a bit of a*** wet and dry sand paper to knock off any high spots if it is not too bad.

Its not that bad i just wondered if i can sand it or have it machined. I understand that i could probably sand it out but is that safe?

Should be fine using sand paper, just not fine sand paper such as 2000 grit. Can always get them both machined and know that they will be straight for a little while longer.

a small dent in the back rotor? i probly wouldnt bother.

Roughing up the discs with a bit of sandpaper would help more than hurt, the pads will smooth them out after a bit of use.

Alright i`ll see what happens, i may be replacing the pads this weekend so i`ll have a look then. Kinda havnt worried about it as all the braking power is exerted on the front so yeah

if its been like that for a while then its probably worn any lip flat, check your pad to see if a groove has been worn into it. probably no need to worry about it.
