love your work corey!
i just read the whole thread, it's awesome what you've done and perservered with. You're so close now

if possible it'd be great to get them engineered, in saying that it's unfair for us to expect it when you're the one wearing 99% of the cost. It'd be interesting to see UPC, RBM, RBS & the like have their uprights crack tested too

goodluck

thanks brad

i just need to get some plate now, but it has to be 15mm thick, i was thinking of getting 12mm plate, then getting 3mm washers made up, would that pass engineering having washers between the caliper bracket and upright ? if not ill just get 20mm plate and machine it to 15mm.

or get 10mm plate and get a 5 mm washers made.

i cant see why they wont pass engineering, im using high tensile cap head screws and everything has been machined, besides the caliper bracket. most probably make that by hand.
ill leave out the part how i grinded the disc of the hub lol

id like to make more of them but, by the time i calculate costs and profits the price would be near RBS and UPC.

you can see how simple it was to make, all you need is access to a lathe and mill, if not pay someone to do it.

when i have the final product im going to do a write up on it

You can get 16mm plate instead of 20mm.
I reckon 12mm and some 3mm machined spacers might pass.
You're best to speak to the bloke that's gunna sign off on it though.

It's a shame that you've done so much only to work out it would cost the same as a UPC or RBS kit.
I guess that's why it hasn't been done this way before.

I'll try to get the same engineer as alby1 did .

I think I've done the kit for under $700

slotted 330 mm rotors $230
Braided lines $100
AU 2 Calipers $40
Caliper seal kit $50
Pads $50
Others bits and pieces $50-$100

I suppose if anyone who wanted the kit could get all the above them selves, then they can send me up there uprights and old rotors and some cash to cover my time and what not , that would work .

I'll make up brackets and hubs and machine uprights then send it all back

hell man if you've got the kit finished for 700 bucks ill sling ya a bit more plus postage to have a set made.
as long as they still retain the e series off set or close enough that the rim dosent stick out of the guard

Still keeps e series offset + 8 mm , which is nothing , I could even face 8 mm off the hub so you have exact e series offset

sort out a price when its ready and give me a buzz.
be keen as for a good upgrade that dosent change the offset for a decent price.

If something fails in the kit, it will bite you in the a***. That's why I'm going through the engineering and ADR approval side of things. The way the world is, it is far to risky to not do it right!

once i have a kit ill get the engineers next door too fix that for me no hassles there.
and from what i can see he is having a machine shop do the important work not a backyard one.

Don't be thinking about offering a full "kit" to people, it makes it a lot of time for your work & not a lot of profit.

Offer up machined stub's, hub's & the caliper bracket to suit Au2>BF calipers, Have those bits engineered, then sell that as the "DIY KIT". These are the hard bits, everyone else can get their own calipers, pads, rotors, bearings & brake lines!

I'd be very interested in a "KIT" that consisted of stubs, machined hub & caliper bracket if it was engineered. I work @ Repco & can source the pads, rotors, caliper kits, brake lines & bearings cheaply myself.

However, with my 8" rims, +8 ontop of E series offset might be a bit of trouble, I'd probably have to roll or flare the guards a tad.

The closer to +0 offset you can get the better for most people.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

As said above I don't won't be doing a full kit as everyone can get most parts themselves but I can get uprights machined and hubs . I'll see how I go with the +8mm

I'm not sure you can have just pieces engineered, that would be more along the lines of ADR approval. I thought it had to be engineered to the car, not the actual kit, so if you took it off and sold it the engineer's report is now useless, well, should give the new owner confidence the kit could be re-engineered

Think your right only the car can be engineered with the brakes, not the kit itself .

I'm making the bracket tomorrow so the kit will be 80% completed , then I'll just have to buy new rotors, pads, caliper seals and new ball joints for the uprights .
