I tried ba rotors (298mm but they're the same hat height as 322)... And the hat height was way too much... With 8mm off the rotor face it puts the bracket right in the middle of the upright tags... You could mount the bracket behind and have big spacers to reach the caliper then, but it'd be nowhere near as strong as being bolted directly to the upright face... Au rotors have about 20mm less hat height...

Cheers,
Tim

Yep I reckon with the 322mm rotor will have enough clearance to run a 16" ftr . As I mentioned before if I shaved the fins off the au2 rotor the ftr would just fit on with around 2mm clearance ,so by using the smaller C4 caliper and a 322mm rotor I'm confident it will clear .

Didn't see your reply timmyA,that won't work then . Looks like I'll have to go with snaps Mazda rotors or see if the C4 calipers will give me enough clearance with the au t series 330 mm rotor .

Cheers

Corey...

See the attached... Hat heights and diameters for reference...

Ray, could only find 26mm tribute rotors and no 303mm escape rotors, only 300's the may have been...

Cheers,
Tim

Tim, the RDA Ebay links are on the previous page.
The equivalent is DBA 2560.

Yeah cool... So the 2560 is one I photoed in the above specs and ebay says the same, they're 26mm wearing to 24mm as opposed to the Au2 being 28mm wearing to 25mm... I doubt that 1mm further piston travel would be overly detrimental at the end of the day but...

Cheers,
Tim

Thanks for that info ,looks like I'll go with the Mazda tribute rotor ,but I will see how much clearance I'll have with the au 329 mm rotor and C4 caliper .it may just clear

Fellas, just a quick one about uprights. As you already know, EB/ED uprights
have the tierod mounting stud hole drilled in a slightly different position.
EF/EL's have two types of upright as well - 94 DA, and on the EFII/EL, 95 DA.
The lower ball joint location was raised 3mm on the later units, as one of the
mods to reduce the EF's nervous suspension response. The part no's are located
below where the caliper sits.

How the hell did you stumble on that?

I'll have to check my uprights... Make much difference you reckon?

Cheers,
Tim

Well when I first started on the upright big brakes thing around 4 yrs ago, Ben gave me a spare upright to play with, and it was a 95DA unit, while the EF XR6 wagon (being an EFI)had 94DA units.
So I did wonder what the differences were.

I'm running 30mm front swaybars with superpro bushes, so a higher balljoint position wouldn't be noticeable IMO.

So by raising the bj on the upright they shifted the stub Axel down relative to the bottom arm which remains fixed as the the spring holds it in the place...

I can't work out what that changes but to effect handling?

Cheers,
Tim

Yeah, dunno.

Must be only on sedans - my EL wagon and XH ute have the 94DA front uprights.
