Hey guys, just wondering if its possible to make my ef ghia a little more comfortable on bumpy roads?
its currently sitting on new SL KingSprings with new monroe shocks all round (standard i believe) with 35 profile tyres at 43 & 41 psi..(19inch) will shortened shocks make a difference? will a new set of bushes all round make it less bumpy? basically driving on typical suburb streets with small potholes just about everywhere it gets bumpy.. also with a full car load the car doesn't feel 'stiff' in the suspension but gets 'bouncy' any ideas, or is this just the consequence of having large rims on a lowered car? |

better shocks/softer springs.
better shocks definately if it is getting 'bouncy' with a carload. apart from that, neck up? LOL

easy, throw the kidney killer kings in the bin and get some Dobinson spring for it, and spend some money on the good shocks like koni or bilstein.
your problem is overly stiff spring with cheap shocks that don't have the ability to control them. |

Definately get bilstein shocks all round if you are after comfort and have the funds. Well worth it and you'll have the best of both worlds, awesome handling and ride quality
Id have to agree with tickford6 too, the dobinson springs are suposed to be less harsh than the kings items and ive heard this this quite a few people now. For this reason, i'll be putting in dobinsons s/l's to lower the rear a bit more on my fairmont |

Remember when lowering the car..like SL's...you have really shortened the suspension travel...hence runs into the bump stops a lot...especially if you have non-shortened shocks.

Yeah, you cant really cheap out with suspension, a good setup makes your car heaps safer and heaps easier to get out of a messy situation if you have to. Id recommend and big front sway bar aswell.
