ok so after going around the site for a few days, i decided i will be swapping my auto for a manual, i got a quote today, and they will install the whole thing including an extreme clutch for 1650, or 1250 for just the kit with the standard clutch.. i think its quite a good deal, i was looking at there work on a guys ED they put in a tickford AU engine and turned it to a manual, they do real nice work, but is this price to much?

i think 1650 for parts and install is a fair price.

does it include a manual ecu, or will they be using resistor tricks to make the car run?

It cost me a grand total of $100 to put my manual in...but that's after selling my auto and the ECU which i couldn't use.

I reckon 1650 is a bit dear for a conversion with a new clutch. About 1200 is what I would pay.

i paid about $600, 4 hunj for the bunky with the most parts, then $100 for the mal wood kit and around another $100 for other things needed.. oh plus 70c for the resistors! :P

then selling some s**t iv already got $150 back, plus selling the auto box soon for $125.

doing it yourself is much more satisfying and SOOOO much cheaper. and id rather pay $100 extra for two cartons and have guys off here and mates help me do it than pay almost 1G to have it done somewhere else.
not to mention you dont know how the progress is going, its not their priority etc etc.

do it yourself :)

ok i don't really have the time or knowledge to do it myself but hell, if some one wants to make me a better offer ill probably take them up on it, but the problem is getting a decent t5 kit for the right price, as well as some people in SA to install it, anyway let me know if maybe you would be interested in installing it for me, ( id pay obviously ) but i only ever got 2 days off so it would have to be done in that time

you could get complete car from the auctions for less than $1200, sell off all the bits left over and come out in front.

With the amount of T5's on e-bay at the moment you should be able to pickup a complete setup for around $600 to $800,
Mal Wood pin $100, Oil $50 give or take, $50 for extras and $100 for booze and snags for the boy's.

1650 with better clutch....

is this the Mal Wood Pin ? or a replacement pedal box ?
i would worry about the firewall/pedal box bending/breaking/flexing if its the Mal wood pin or a pedal box that is not Re-Enforced.

Also if they are providing all parts i would insist on a warranty on the Box.

No warrenty i say do it yourself, if the box u got is f**k then u can buy another one and still have some cash leftover.

as far as i know its only a replacement pedal box, ill ask them tomorrow depending whether my bank wants to give me money, about the specifics, but it does have a warrenty, what sort of fire wall should i be looking at, i know they are going to change it, but i dont know what would be good etc

The firewall in the falcons is pretty weak and cracks from the pressure of the clutch cable (usually from a worn clutch cable)

If it is a replacement pedal box ask for it to be reinforced

do a search on Pedal box cracking/bending plenty of info on this site about it.
