Quick question all -
Does anyone know of a mechanic around Melbourne that will perform a manual conversion on a 93 Fairmont?
I've been sending emails everywhere I could find, but have only been getting negative resonses.

I'm fairly sure most mechanics would do it if you were willing to spend the cash. Just ask around.

Ta chewie_86, was just trying to find out whether anyone knew of anyone that's done it before.
I think I'll just print out the conversion posts on here, and take em to my usual mechanic.

Muchas Gracias.

When I bought the ED recently I took it to the mechanic for a full service, point etc. and pointed out that it had been converted to a manual. He said it's a pretty big job, not really hard but time consuming so if I were you i'd be prepared to pay a fairly large sum in labour costs.

Mick Webb put a ef 5 speed into my old XF for $2000 including parts... Never missed a beat. My brother has the car now and it's still going strong, more than 5 years later...

its not that big a job! i did mine by myself in a weekend. but then again i am a 3rd year apprentice mechanic and did the conversion at my old mans workshop. this was in an eb. the only really difficult bit is the pedal box.
