Less yapping and more converting lol

Only kidding, so what kind of timeframe are you looking at here? If you were closer, i would take you for a drive in my car to sway your decision, the difference in performance is like night and day with the two gearboxes

Probably won't be doing it until later in the year. Just spent to much on other things and i'll need to wait for school holidays so i won't need my car.

ive done it in mine, its been 3 months now and still going great. i have no regrets at all. It is hard to believe how hard it goes now in the first 3 gears. i would highly recomend it, only downside i can think is that fuel bill will go up, just because its so much more fun.

I'm thinking of this mod in around august/September, funds permiting, which comes to my next question, how much would it cost for a conversion in an el falcon with a tko 600 box? im going into the airforce on tuesday so i'm keen to start doing work to her in around 3 or 4 months when i get some money together, could i get out of it for under 5g's? btw there's pictures of the girl in my image gallery thingy lol.

Im also looking into doing the conversion to my EB next up.

Will a ECU from a 5 speed EA work in a 91 pre-smartlock EB Fairmont? How will that go affecting climate control, trip computer and all those extra goodies in the Fairmont?

Can someone write up all the parts needed?
Ive got the EA which I can get all the small bits and bobs from, new clutch, flywheel, pedal box or mal wood pin, ecu or resistor mod, tailshaft(?).......what else?

ECU will work in pre smartlock cause the ecu 3.9 mapping is near identical to the EB one (presmartlock) remeber the ecu really only controls the engine and all the climate control etc is controled by sensors etc etc

Gregory's Manual (to get torque pressures)
5/8 Bolt, 2x washes, 2x 5/8 Nuts
Bell-housing, Gearbox
Flywheel, Clutch, Pressure Plate
Clutch Fork, Throw out Bearing
Clutch Cable, Damper Hook ($45 Dollars from Ford)
Clutch Spring (ED7K576B)
Clutch Pedal Bushes (Part No. EA2471)
Clevis clip and bushes (Part No. XF7B605A)
Gear Knob & Boot (9/10 Times comes with Conversion Kit)
Gear Box Oil... (3L of dextron II / III, and 150ml Lubrizol 7906.)
Tail shaft (If 3 speed get a 4 speed or T5 tail shaft)

Thanks for that, its exactly what I need.
Good to know the ea ecu will work. Wasnt sure bout the TC, CC and all that.

Of the smaller parts (eg, clutch fork, clevis clip etc) which would you reccomend buying new from ford or would it be ok to get these parts from the wreck?
Is there an alternative place to source these parts new?
Same with the flywheel and pressure plate regarding buying new?

Tom

I did the conversion on my EF, did it because i had the opurtunity to buy all the gear pretty cheap, my rear main was leaking, and the auto was thrashed out by the old owner. Best mod i ever did to it in regards to feel, and power.

As a result of my newfound love for the power the car took a hiding everytime is was driven. It has its downfalls as iv been much harder on the car since. If i lived in the city id have kept auto for ease of being able to just drive it without thinking really.

All in all it was the BEST mod i ever did to it.

I got the little clips and so fourth new from ford, the prices are near to nothing a couple of dollars here and there, Fly wheel and pressure plate etc if the 2nd hand on seems to have alot of meat go with it or just get a kit after market from autobarn / repco etc etc.. hop this helps
