Without a jerricho gearbox you will not be changing faster in a manual than an auto with the line pressures increased = faster shifts. I have had manuals and autos's - and would rather drive a full manual auto than a manual down the quarter. Turbo's especially love auto's because you don't need to get off the throttle (and lose boost) when changing gears. There is no way my Landau would run a 10.34 as a manual in the combination it has now. Shane

I like my auto, but I'm just lazy. Only reason I'd go a manual is for the better power through the driveline.
Although, I do like hoping in manual cars and drivng them every now and then, it's just a bit more fun probably because it's a novelty or something. |

MR LANDAU I never knew you ran in the tens down the q/m.
For fun driving and daily driving I would prefer a manual wheres for an auto can take a real pounding in a drag.

I'd prefer a manual but with certain accessories I have hanging off the side of my engine.... i'd rather an auto i could give a bit of stick as opposed to a manual I'd have to p***y-foot around...
80% of my power comes on very early in the piece and I really doubt the t5 would appreciate selecting a new gear with that kind of torque.. And I'll be f**k if im going to spend $6-10k on a gearbox in a $15k car. If engine only had a few mods I'd go a t5 for sure.

Manualised Auto is the best because you have the best of both worlds. Manual is move fun then an auto but when times are what matters to you then get a Maualised Auto

Whats all this about manuals not being able to handle power?
Say I have an i6 with extractors, cam, 2.5" cat back exhaust with a T5 manual.... Would that be a bad idea or are these mods ok for a manual? |

That's fine. Limits of t5 approach with strokers, forced induction etc.

An auto that you have to shift manually. Usually has a ratchet shifter on top of it. Drags with big grunt up front - auto 'cause you got the torque. Drags with low grunt up front - manual to keep it on song. Twisty mountain roads in any car - manual 'cause the slushomatic (eg. the one changing my gears for me this morning) should've been eliminated from the option list |

The BTR autos cant handle s**t anyway. You stick a big converter in them and you run the risk of them having a dummy spit and goin in to limp home mode. And why do you think they can keep on reselling manuals at wreckers where as the autos just get replaced??? Cause the BTR's are crap. Unless its a C4 or a C6 its not worth having an auto for the drags cause a manual will beat it hands down every time.

I got quoted a Tremec TKO 600 that can easily handle 600hp through it for $4000. Brand new. Thats only supplied not fitted. |
