I'd prefer a manual but with certain accessories I have hanging off the side of my engine.... i'd rather an auto i could give a bit of stick as opposed to a manual I'd have to p***y-foot around...

80% of my power comes on very early in the piece and I really doubt the t5 would appreciate selecting a new gear with that kind of torque..

And I'll be f**k if im going to spend $6-10k on a gearbox in a $15k car. If engine only had a few mods I'd go a t5 for sure.

Have you got enough grunt to break a toploader?

Not likely

As I thought, HOs and RPO's couldn't break them, big blocks use them.a manual conversion isn't hard, you have allready got some tools, you have shown the ability to bolt stuff together when you fitted a pump.
$6 - 10k, you could buy alot of manual set ups for that.

Don't need grunt, had a rear seal come out of a toploader once, that sure as hell f**ked it.

Well, if you really want a strong gearbox I can sell you one that will handle 10,000HP with a bearing L10 life of 10,000hrs.

Only problem is it's a right angle industrial gearbox, would set you back somewhere in the region of $300,000 and weights in at about 14.5 tonne.

Oh, and they're 3.55m tall :-)

And out of curiosity, where would a gearbox like that be used? Mining?
