What do you prefer and why?

I prefer manual only because you lose less power through it.

If someone can invent a better lockup torque converter that locks up just after you take off and unlocks when you come to a stop I reckon that would be awesome but until then........manual all the way.

I like the fun of driving a manual, but for cruzing around I prefer the Auto, I guess I'm just a lazy bastard, but I also need the auto for towing.

from what I hear, with some simple mods, the auto can handle alot more power compared to the auto. having said that I think that a manual is definately more fun to drive.

I guess from stock to highly modified it goes AUTO MANUAL, AUTO again.

But each to their own opinions...

Cheers

the auto can handle more power than the t5 can. and yeah, when you start running faster quarters, you will need faster shifts, meaning auto. as much as I prefer manual.. I can't see someone having a manual if 1/4 mile times was what they are after.

Cheers

Defintely manual. Better gear ratios, better launches and even with just an extra pedal there is so much you can do with the combination..

I only have an auto but if there were second hand T5s available I'd might just get one. Then again, they wouldn't be able to handle the power I'd be wanting to put through the drivetrain. Auto stays in till it breaks. 8-)

I got the best of both worlds...
Own car (weekends and cruises) = EF Manual
Daily Driver = BA with Tiptronic Shifter.

No complaints from me on either :)

So just get a Hollinger 6 speed crashbox. A few years ago you could pick up the 5 speeds for about $500 each

I'm manual all the way. People who want an auto because they're lazy probably shouldn't be on the road anyway. If you're too lazy to think about gears, you're too lazy to look where you're going!!

Edit: Besides, a good driver will shift quicker in a good short throw manual than an auto will IMHO. I rarely see autos chirping the rear wheels but I've made just about every manual I've driven chirp the rear wheels.

a strengthened manaul, is less driveable than a normal manual, it is VERY expensive, and is a b**ch to maintain (clutches) .. hence you can see auto's becoming a choice... but yeah, manual is good

Cheers

Manual for sure. I just got a short shift for my t5 and now it feels awsome, like a virgin...... tight.

Autos down the strip though i guess
