spools are fine. My brother has had like 6 cars with lockers in them. For skids, LSDs are s**t, had a fully rebuilt on in my EB. Last 10 months tops. My turbo SVO is going a full spool.

once again, big difference between locker and spool... lockers can be had for under $300 & can still navigate corners.

welded diffs and spools. They all get called the same. If the centre has moving parts, then can wear out and brake.
Eliminate that by a spool, mini spools can flog out the pins, hence why i went a full spool

I think he means a mechanical locker.
I would love a spool. Not too keen on being defected or snapping axles though.

If I had the dosh i'd fork out the $1500 odd for a tru trac centre.

with the amount of welded diffs/spools my brother has had, he has snapped one axle. I like those odds

I barely have time to maintain my car these days let alone swapping diffs to clear a defect, plus, these days I rarely drive in a manner that would warrant a locked diff.

Take away all the negatives and I would smash one in tomorrow.... I must be getting old....

yes I was referring a mechanical locker, it allows both wheels to spin at different speeds around corners. That's what snaps axles in 'cig lockers' and spools, one wheel trying to slow the other down, hence the low speed chirp & sketchy handling in the wet.

I'll be forking out the required cash for a true Trac before I fit another Spool to a street car.....

ah well, everyone has their opinion. The SVO is copping a full spool. It'll be a straight line car anyway, not like it'll get driven often with the way cops are around here.

a spool is as dangerous as a new lsd, so if you know how to drive it wou;ld be fine also as some one said its more predictable which is also safer, every C*** is just sooking cos its illegal, any C*** who cant drive is gonna crash with or with out a lsd so who cares its there own fault.

any one with 18" wheels on there standard falcon that came out with 15' rims has an illegal car its dangerous.

Anything over 17inch tyres is only compromising ride/ performance for looks anyway... I personally think anyone with 18" up rims are just show boaters to be honest...People just need to look at the V8 supercars.. All that horspower and performance and still running 17's for handling / performance ;)
