Hi! What do you guys think the most effective diff for an EF would be for a slight increase in acceleration? Is the lower the ratio (ex. 1:1) the better the accelaration and the higher the ratio (ex. 5:1) the better the top speed?
For just giving a slight increase in speed without drastically decreasing top speed, what would be the most effective diff ratio? Also, what's the ratio of the stock standard 1996 EF diffs?

You've got it the wrong way around. Eg 1:1 is towards top speed but slow acceleration, and 5:1 is for acceleration with a low top speed.
If you want more getup and go fit an XR 3.45 ratio, yours will have 3.27. Personally i have 3.7 in my EB and found it a good compromise between accl and cruising but if you spend the most amount of time on the highway than go for the 3:45 for a goo allrounder.

pretty sure stock standard EF single spinner diffs were 3.08's

Yeah they are 3.08's, pretty sure the V8's were the 3.27 or 3.23's

3.27 was for EB2/ED V8's and some XR6's, 3.08 for GLi, Futura, 3.23 For Fairmont and EF1 Ghia's, 3.45 for EF2 Ghia, EL Ghia, XR6 and EF2 onwards XR8

Fair enough, i was under the presumtion that they stopped with the 3.08 after the EB series 1.
My EB S had a 3.27 and so did my Fairmont. If the stockers in the EF / EL's are 3.08 then im feel sorry for ya... that sucks.
