Fuzion - Has Joe contacted DBA at all??
The rotors are actually made in australia, and exported to the US.

They are still made in the US design (curved vane ventalation), but apparently the kangaroo paw ventalation design isnt too far away.

Yeah mine are in reasonable nick - I honestly don't know how the embossed tickford wings / logo can go wrong though ? *Anywho* - the hardest parts to source for this conversion are the spindles / uprights - cebco sell kits, but you won't get much change from just over $2K...Aaron (aka pyroay) also got a brake upgrade kit from Cebco consisting of the AP Racing 4 pot calipers, and 2 part rotor / hub combo - AFAIK, pyro's kit was ~$3.5K or thereabouts.

Back on topic - Ford will sell the EL GT uprights...but not much change from $700 each (trade price)...cebco modify stock uprights and re-sell them - so the $2K pricetag is changeover on your old spindles.

Cheers,
Steve

Surely you can get a brake joint to do a bulk lot of modified spindles? Its pretty much just an addition bracket for the caliper welded on isnt it?

They need to be precission engineered...plus cebco kits are ADR approved (or in the process!). I know racebrakes in North Melbourne re-sell cebco kits too.

I thought the Cebco package for $2500 was for a complete EL GT front setup, including brakes??

You could ring any engineering place from the yellow pages if you know what needs to be done, they could do it.

I can't speculate any further than my experience with Cebco - so if someone has the balls to go get something fabricated / modified elsewhere for similar dollars and tell me it is as good quality - then that's a job well done - I honestly don't see what the big deal is here ? Cebco offer kits available for EA-BA and people are still whinging

Why re-invent the wheel :?:

My 2c,
Steve

thats right.
unless someone comes up with a kit for a grand or under.

ie

2 modified spindles $250
2 s/h AU2 rotors $100
2 s/h AU2 calipers $150
caliper adaptors and hubs $500

this is just a guess but if it were possible they would sell like
bottles of water at a rave.

I'm guessing they'd be for 16" rims minimum yeah. Do the ELGT/Mustang ones require 17"'s or 16"s work too. (I don't mind I've got 17"s)

Yes, the rims will require a minimum diameter of 17 inches to accommodate the ELGT/Mustang brake setup.

Idea is to get the kit FITTED for under $1k and is possible.

All i need is the spindles now, need to know EXACTLY which model or need one to 'copy' and we can get this all rolling.

Just thought i'd say i'm dead keen on this too. If i can get a twin piston set up for anything up to $1.5k i couldnt get rid of the money fast enough.

i guess this is a kit that can be bought.

also is it possible to fit vt calipers to the el gt uprights?

wat calipers do the elgts have?

interested in a brake upgrade due to a few close calls and evasive action moments
