I found some links which are a good read

http://wholesalesuspension.com.au/ultima.html

http://wholesalesuspension.com.au/boge.html

http://wholesalesuspension.com.au/superpro.html

After reading this i think boge shocks are the way to go but have 2 get a price and see how much its going to cost.

for above^^

like i said earlier, i have BOGE shocks in the front end of mine. And although i have no accurate basis for comparison with other lowered shocks, i have found them to be bloody excellent.

keep the wheel on the road and tracking where its supposed to and damps bumps extremely well.

the front of my car is substanitally better at handling bumps and stuff in the road than the back, which has KYB shocks. The back is too firm and absorbs bumps too quickly, making it feel too rough.

This is all personal opinion though.

I finally got around to getting a second opinion from Midas today.

To get everything that needs to be done to the suspension right now, will set me back $600.00.

1/2 of the bushes that Pedders said needed changing, have infact been replaced before, and are still good.

Ridiculous, and the thing is if Pedders hadn't gone so hard with the first quote, and pulled a figure of even $1800 out of their asses, I may have taken the bait and had them do it 8-)

Well they may have just upped the price so that you won't go to them :P but good to see you got a second quote that was 5 times cheaper.

Well I am getting my suspension done with Koni Adjustable Yellow shocks all round, low king springs all round, front selby 30mm sway bars, new front camber/castor bushes (or something like that) and something about extended towers for the rear shocks so that the rear doesn't bottom too much. Cost all up is about $2400 installed with 2 year or 40k km warranty. or $1840 just for parts...I get lazy.

$2800 is a bit silly its nearly half the price of the car.

why should the cost of the car make any difference to the price it costs to fix it?

so if the car was a $30 000 car you would think $2800 would be ok?

it would also cost $2800 to have the same things fixed on a $500 EA

or should it cost less cos the car is worth less?

I'm not saying the qoute is right. just that the cost of the car doesn't influence the price of repairs

Depends on how much you love it. If you love it enough, then it's priceless. My gearbox is half the price of the car..

If $2800 was spent on the EF about 10% of that would have been recouped on resale, which is a dubious investment.

A newer/lower-kay car shouldn't need anywhere near this much spent on it, so there is no comparison.

If it were me and it wasn't a track car i would hold off on the swaybars, i would see what it's like with the new shocks and springs first, they will make a big difference. In certain circumstances swaybars make the ride harsher, increase loads on the chassis (which can reduce handling), and reduce traction. It's not much more work to fit the swaybars later if you want to.

If I were you I wouldn't be going for King Springs unless you want to bounce around everywhere. I suggest Whiteline.

Did I read that Pedders quote properly??
2800 bucks and still no new springs??

I figure that quotes like that are Pedders policy.
They will get a 1 in 10 strike rate from customers who
don't know anything about cars, or are elderly, or just stupid.

Its shameful I reckon.

Was told Whiteline sits lower then King Springs, so I thought King Springs would be fine and Whiteline were a bit more expensive. Sat in a car with King Springs and it felt stiffer then what I've got now. Whiteline did have a smoother ride..but not sure if the shocks helped in either situations since both cars had different shocks. I guess it depends on the a combination.

Main reason is the ride height. I don't want mine to sit lower then XR height.

for whiteline controls (read low) springs have a look in my user gallery. they are a bit lower than kings, but you can still easily clear almost everything that you ccan normally.

its all just a matter of being careful.

whitelines with the matching shocks give a pretty darn smooth ride considering what they are, and still handle like a dream.

i cant comment on kings though, as i've never been in a falcon with them
