every time i brake med-semi hard, the brakes shutter and shake the whole car? what will be the cause of this?
im thinking maybe the brake disk is wrarped? or might need new pads?
funny thing is i got new disks and pads about a year ago? the mechanic i took it to bought everything (pads and disks) and had to machine up the disks abit. i know the pads are DBA put not sure wat type.

if anyone can give me ideas to what may cause this problem, hit me up.

thanks

It will be a warped disc rotor, next time it does it, put your hand on the gear lever, if that shakes, it's a rear rotor, if it doesnt shake, it's a front rotor. Brakes will need machining, wont be dear, usually about $35-$40 per rotor

its most likely the front as they do most of the stopping, every time ive had this problem its been the front

Usually if the whole car shakes, it's the fronts since the front brakes take most of the braking load, but won't harm keeping your hand on the gear stick to suss things outs.

Also, new disks don't need machining as far as I know, so I'd be wondering why the mechanic machined it. Hopefully it wasn't a dodgy and got you second hand set and machined it for you.

If you get the disks machined again, it is recommended to put new pads on as well and disgard the old ones.

yeah i was thinking the same thing as phongus.new rotors dont need to be machined just need abit of metho to clean the wax/greasy s**t thats on them when they come out of the box.i need to change my front rotors and pads have major shutter.

This is fairly unlikely, as he mentions that it happens only when the brakes are applied.

From my experience, (ive had this on my car before) took it to ford and found out my car had dodgy un genuine pads on, so bought brand new genuine pads off ebay for 180$, brakes are awsome now. also got the rotors machined at the same time cause the crap pads leave a very thin layer of s**t on there....know no shuddering what so ever.... :D :D

if you have sloted rotors and are using bendix ct pads, read this thread.gearbox-suspension-brake-driveline-f4/burnt-rotors-so-which-pads-now-t97985.html

i had the same issue and it was from excess material build up between the slots from crappy ct pads..

I use aftermarket pads and rotors on my EL...never had any issues and much better braking than stock/genuine stuff. Not to mention the aftermarket stuff is probably cheaper for better performance.
