It sucks how with my car to change gears smoothly you have to ride it quite a bit, and still it slightly shudders. That and it always smells even when I haven't been giving it s**t.
Also if I change to like second and put my foot down for some accelleration it will jerk quite a bit.
I'm guessing my clutch is on it's way out? Imean I don't think it's ever been changed when it started it's life up in the country.
Also, it seems like when I drive in 1st and change to second it clashes a bit. It doesn't feel like the pedal travel is really high, so i'm just confused.

Imean I remember with my old torana after I did the clutch on it (a normal one) I could change gears quick and let my foot off the clutch very quickly and it'll still be smooth. (considering I give it the right amount of accl)

I was thinking of purchasing a new clutch, but I want to get a heavey duty clutch, or 'sports clutch' or a 'brass button'. But then I don't know how bad it'll be when trying to drive slowly through the city. I don't mind getting another stock one, but then I won't get the performance with the others..

mate,
you shouldnt be able to smell your clutch unless your riding it or simply cant drive. so it sounds like it may very well be f***ed.
Just a few things you should be aware of with upgrading the stock clutch.
On mine i replaced the clutch with a pbr heavy duty and the following occured and is very common:
-The pedal box broke causing the pedal to snap off.
-The firewall broke at the clutch cable entry point.

So just be aware that you will have to spend considerable time or pay someone else to fix these problems when they occur because its a fact that they will.

cheers

Adam

When you have your clutch out, remove your flywheel and have it machined. If it is slipping excessively, the friction causes heat, and will glaze the surface of the flywheel, which stops the clutch from grabbing like it should

It's not slipping, just a bastard to drive with.

But all fixed now, I just went out side, adjusted it slightly, and took it around the block, no worries.

The adjustment was way out of wack, that 3 things now that whoever serviced it before hand f**k up.

1: idle speed adjuster was set too high, so it'll stick at 2000 RPM

2: idle speed screw had the head of it snapped off

3. clutch adjustment
