Well, due to some idiotic behavior, my 3.45 LSD is now a single spinner, what would be a better option, rebuilt LSD, or mini-spool, keeping in mind that my car is barely driven (130-140k's a week normally). when it is driven, it is driven hard, so the idea of a locked diff doesnt faze me... i am leaning towards the spool, but suggestions and reasoning for what i should get would be great.

Keep the singlespinner, make so much smoke, so easily.

Seriously though, it's personal preference mate, no one can make that decision for you.
Both have pros and cons, you've gotta weigh them up yourself.

So what's actually wrong with it (the LSD)?

Did it make a big noise when it buggered up???? If not, change the oil in it and see if that helps.

The LSD spins one wheelers, will not get two to spin at all (private property attempts) , and no, it didnt make a big noise when it buggered up... the only downside IMHO to the minispool is the legality

LSD's are hard on oil, get it hot and change the oil. Use something like Castrol LSX 90, or similar.

go the minispool... or is that just cos i have one for sale at the moment in for sale forum, now with pic.

seriously though mine was a daily driver and it was getting a bit much. never had any trouble with the cops though but 10yrs ago may have been a different story. age and experience teach us we are not invincible on the road and so you drive accordingly.

it is great for traction, and in my opinion, better than a l.s.d in a straight line as it won't fishtail but just goes straight. can step out when banging into 2nd depending on the power of your car and gear change. in my case if the road was not straight i could not boot it as it would really step out banging into 2nd and if the fronts aren't pointing straight then you have to have your wits about you. way easier to hold a slide (drift) than a l.s.d. too.

if my car was a w/ender or just something i drove from time to time i wouldn't have had the spool removed.

i really dont think you should be gettin a spool with the way you drive brett, honesly, i think if you get a spool you won't have that xr of yours much longer....
but its up to you, that is just my opinion after seeing the way you drive....

get the spool, heaps of fun when giving the car a good thrashing.
a spool wont kill what a burnout wont

I read that through a few times, and it still doesn't make sense.

hahaha i reread that and was laughing for 3 minutes.
what i was trying to say is that having a spool will eventually f#*k up heaps of things in your car, and in the same way burnouts will f#*k your car. and from what i read this guy tends to do a bit of thrashing to his car, so either way stuff in his car are gonna get f#*kd , so you might aswell make most of the car while its not f#*kd. this is where the spool comes in

note: i added as much as fullstops and commers as i could for that to make more sense

Thrashing is an understatement, my ED HAS to be a monday build to cope with the s**t that i have thrown at it. i cane the car, but if i go the spool, will respect the car around corners and in the wet. im gunna go for a ride in a mates spooled EB and make my decision from that, im not 100% sure, but that should give me an insight to what it will be like

good decision, but also consider that your mates ed might be stock and not have as much as go as your car would, so yours with a spool could be alot more fun.
as for respecting the car around the corners and in the wet, well i doubt it. youll see what i mean when you drive the spooled eb
