no not really. but thanks anyway. I have been reading trueblueford.com and they say that the EL Fairmont Ghia came with Sport suspension as an option, I have also seen this on other sites, so i assumed that the sport suspension must be the tickford jobby. But u r saying that the EL F G without the sport suspension is also tickford? and is 30mm lower than the falcon? So what is the sport suspension and how can I tell if I have that?

The tickford suspension is standard on the EL Fairmont ghia, as far as i knew its only 15mm lower than the Gli. The sports may be refering to the XR suspension which is around 30mm lower than the Gli with stiffer shocks.

Ok, so how do I tell if I have the option suspension. Other than measuring ride height?

well i guess if you do have the sports option it would look the same as the XR in relation to ride height. If the rake is the same as the fairmont or Gli its just the standard tickford setup.

have a look at your lower inner bush. If its red, its tricky, if not then its standard.

And so you know, red is urethane and black is rubber!

Cheers

Ah no... They got simple stocker suspension like every other Falcon. Ticky suspension was a $2500 option and from memory only available with the XR wheels at another $2500.

And xf_xr6 would have pointed out the easiest way to identify if you have true ticky suspension. But Ford did have a dealer fit Ticky spring and shock kit which didnt come with the urethane bush setup/different rear arm setup.

Only way to tell this is if the springs have a red strip painted on them somewhere, or all the part numbers on the shocks start with 96DT or you have a bump stop above the diff.

Stock ride height on EF2/EL 6 pots was 15mm lower than GLi, and 15mm above XR.

Looking up further on the suspension and found that yes the standard Fairmont ghia had stock suspension. What made them lower than the Gli was the simple weight factor. They did incorperate the XR suspension geometry on the Falcons/Fairmonts.

While Trueblue Ford is generally an excellent source of information, there are quite a few mistakes in there.

Have to be careful when quoting them.

I looked right into it, and measured other cars, etc, its definetly not stock GLi suspension, just looking at them its obvious, with the Ghias that is, that they arent as high as GLi etc. I had to do this for when i was going to lower the car. Also Pedders, King spring ppl told me the same, they are lower.

Have a look at this, or read i should say lol.
