now comes to installing the new shocks and springs (lovell's lows and ultima shocks), and i didnt even have to use a spring compressor to get the spring in. and it sits rather loosely when the top is done up to the max. is there something i'm doing wrong :S quick replies if poss! thx |

Did you put the bump stops in and replace the top rubbers? The springs WERE AU type? |

everything was put back correctly.. i think i'll just have to replace the rubbers in the upper strut mount (the ones that are moulded to the shape of the springs. they were just too loose. but when turned 1/3 of a turn they tightened up now and it sits and drives fine. i will replace them though. also going to the wheel and tyre center tomorow. what do i ask them to do seeing as its a lot lower now.
cheers guys |

went to "the tyre experts" today and they said $390 for a camber kit... + cost of installation. i walked out, as i know camber kits are around the $100 mark on ebay. and i'm happy to fit it myself
with the camber kits on ebay. will they provide enough adjustment to reduce the issue now that its so low (upside down V shape)..? cheers guys. |

do you guys know where i'd be able to get some new spring seat insulators (f&r), and possibly a coil spring spacer bushing(f&r if they make front :S). its just too low for "lows" (lovells), wheels sitting just in the guards
i did notice when changing it all that the rubbers were really ... f***ed... and werent large enough to hold the spring in. pretty much perrished. cheers guys. |

they are AU struts & springs right???? springs shouldnt be loose..... and it should only lower it about 25mm.... something seems odd....

yep au struts and springs. ultima struts. lovells low springs.
i have a feeling its the rubbers inside the top bracket perished. as the front springs were loose even when the bracket assembly was tightened on the top.. as for rears the rubbers at the top didnt look too flash either. any idea where to get them? |

Sounds like ultra lows instead of lows. Can you post part numbers?

nah they were bought off ebay... theyre gray, so lovell's. and theyre 2 coils shorter than the stock ones.
called ford today and got a quote for the top rubbers for the front, $14.30 a side. + going to look for a spacer of sum sort to go in the assembly too. as for rears, insulator was $13.30 a side. and superpro have a 10mm spacer on special order from bursons at 19.50 a pair. the stock suspension on mine had done just under 300k km's. so i'm not surprised the rubbers are so stuffed. is this the best way to raise it a tad. i must say i'm REALLY happy with the ride quality though, just not the height, as when i take a freeway exit fast and theres a bump midway through the corner i get decent scrapage on the guards. |

I wouldnt call them lows... I would call them supalows.... and the back being that low might have SSL springs... no wonder you need a camber kit......
This now explains the hassles you are having. I would get front guards rolled to stop the tyre hitting, pulling the guard out & chipping paint off....
