I have just got myself a 2008 fg with 5 speed auto,my problem is the oil cooler was damaged and oil has gone.
2 things i need help with is
1 how do you put the oil in it

2 how do you know when the level is correct

i have searched in here and on the net but the 2 things i need to know are not to be found
any help would be great

i would think it be the same as the 4 speed

should be a filler plug on one side of the gearbox
add the correct fluid with a pump untill it flows out.
start the car and even take it for a drive ( if you have the rear wheels off the ground no need )
make sure you move through the gears ie D 1,2,3 R etc

and then check again :)

if it does not flow out add more!

I found out how to find the level on the 5 speed auto,it is the same box as the ford explorer of the same year as the fg
As per you tube videos ,you start the engine and get it up to normal temp
You then remove the small torx bung that is inside the auto sump plug
Then you add oil with a pump through the bung hole
You keep pumping it in until it starts running out
when it stops running out it is full

In my case it took another 3ltrs

I hope this may help others with the same problem
