Hey guys & girls.

Can anyone recommend me a workshop to have my LSD diff rebuilt in the Melbourne area? I would prefer the western suburbs but will trailer my diff somewhere if need be.

I've called Northen diff's & advanced keysbough for a quote, both are a fair way from home, so i was wondering if anyone has a workshop they can recommend?

Cheers

ToranaGuy

Hey mate. I use Northern Diffs for all the work on my ute. They are very good and use quality parts (no cheap chinese s**t), they may be a bit more expensive than the cheap diffs but you get what you pay for.

I liked the way the dude from Northen diff's talked on the phone, so i'll leaning towards getting them to do it. Just have to save up a bit more $$$.

Cheers

I was quoted over the phone of a ballpark figure of $1k depending on if my centre is re-buildable or screwed. Advanced said $550 over the phone, but i'm fairly sure that depends on if i've got 25 or 28 spline axel's & if my centre is able to be rebuilt.

I might give supertrik a call for a quote.

In the end, i know they can only really quote me 2 prices, a short or long rebuild.

It's probably a couple more wks till i have the $$ & time to take the diff in anyway, i'm not driving around on it so it's all cool. Organ donor's do save lives! lol

Cheers

STAY AWAY FROM PRESTERN AUTOMATICS AND DIFFERENTIALS!!!!

I had a re-build through them 6 months ago and my 3.45LSD diff s**t its self within 4000km. They wanted nothing to do with me and would not honour the 12 month warranty.

Im in the process of taking them to the ACCC. The pricks charged me $2500 and then i had to fork out another $2000 to repair it again out of my own pocket.

My mechanic in Darwin said hes never seen a diff s**t its self like it did before. They put 323 Single pegger diff gears in it. Mines 3.45LSD, It started whining within 1000km, The Seals blew out within 1000km and the remaining oil left over was thick sludge. Not to mention the carrier pin snapped and there was deep pitting in the gears normally assosiated with cars that have done 100 000km +

stay clear of these guys!!!! They were brilliant to deal with when I handed the money over but thats were it ended.

Cheers, Nathan

PM brett4777, he may be able to assist you. He is leading the charge from the western suburbs to AFD tomorrow. He built my 3:45 lsd,and I never had any issues. :D

I'd also love to know how you go with the ACCC dude, keep us informed!

As for me, i still don't quite have the cash or the time off work to take my diff to get rebuilt.

Soon, i'll have the cash, then i'm telling work i'll be unavailable for the day.

Cheers
