Just had a test drive of a brand new BFII XT Falcon
today, with the 6 speed auto.

They are offering the 6sp as a $250 extra as an introductory
type thing.....good price eh for a top tranny.

Must say that it was really nice to drive, very smooth.
The only thing was that its a bit hard to hear the engine,
with the good acoustics inside the car.

Anyway, I can dream on about getting one ... one day..

I'm a dreamer as well, I'd love to own either an Ego Grey XT Sedan or a Vixen White XT Wagon...

Both with the E-Gas engine of course...

Oh, and Premium Sound, as well.

I've just got a new BF MKII, 4 speed though. Goes really well. I had a Commy SV6 for a couple of months and the BF s**t all over it in the power department. You can really feel the difference using the sports shift. Nice car to drive, even if it is stocko.

The 6 speed is just so much better than the 4 speed that I couldnt not even consider buying another car wih the 4 speed!
If my 4 speed died, well id throw a s/h one in n sell it lol or leave the car on the side of the road HAHA, they are shocking, after owning 3 n having no issues Ive been lucky, but they are slow, heavy, hold heat for ages, have rough gear changes even when in top notch condition if within power and they thump around if they get confused..

6 speed auto, smooth, takes off in 2nd unless you want it to go into 1st; its quiest, its so smooth you dont know its chnging unless you feel or look for it, you cannot trick it like the 4 speed auto, it holds gears on corners or in spirited moments (awesome) and then also dropws down gears if you go down a hill or brake reasonably hard, also fkn great.

No comparison.
manual = fun but not for day to day and too hard to launch really well for me.
4 speead auto = acceptable in <10k car, so long as its perfect, if its got issues, burn your car.
6 speed auto = best auto Ive been in, driven, could imagine other than one button gear change (not trans problem tho)

Well new technology usually is better then the old ;) thats why they make new ones :P

I would now want to drive a BFII with the 6 speed just to see how smooth it is...must be REALLY smooth.

By the way Daniel....such a sad photo in your sig man :(

vixen is actually the name given to red...

why anyone would buy a 4 speed BF MKII when theyre offering the 6 speed for $250 is totally beyond me. you'd make it back in fuel savings in 2 months

Yeah ION (the place that make the 4 speeds) went into receivership so word around town is that all BF MK2 sedans will be 6 speed auto once they run out of the 4 speeds.

Is that the same people who made the EF/EL autos?

EA to AU automatic gearboxes were made by a company called BTR (unsure of the abbreviation), do ION have anything to do with BTR?
