ok ive started the brake upgrade. (spent 3hrs on it so far)
as i knew earlier, the XG has the XF steering and suspension, not the E series (even though its clearly in E series era) ...but i was hoping the kit would still bolt up... wrong but it isnt hard to overcome the upper and lower wishbones are different, and so is the strut. so im using the original XF strut (instead of the 2 E series ones i got)... as a result, i have to get: - thrust bearings to suit hub/axle (since the XF style has smaller diameter) - oil seal (since XF has a larger diameter face where the hub will sit) - i have to make a 6mm spacer so the oil seal sits flush with the hub i also need: - top and bottom wishbone joints (cos the old are f**k) - steering assembly balljoints (f**k as well) - all the bushes are f**k (nolathane kit i bought takes care of those) i could change the suspension to E series, but that would involve changing wishbones... too much work for when there's a simpler solution. so once i get this spacer, thrust bearings and oil seal... ill be able to bolt it up so ill probably have to put the old brakes back on the ute for the weekend, and then put the bigger rotors on once the required parts are sourced by conventrys. even though there some issues, it wasnt really frustrating since its an easy solution, and i found some other stuff that needs work on ute, so its now safer |

if you have xf gear for your front end you could have got brake upgrades for it easier than what you have gotten.

Yep for around the same dollars (maybe cheaper) it will end up costing him but without the headaches and ADR complied. One comes to mind is Hopper stoppers.

Hey Tocchi,
Have you but in the brakes as yet? Also any other brake upgrade kit out there for E series that still retains the standard offset?

After reading the magazine article you can see (poor photo views) how the bracket works http://www.hoppers.com.au/buildups.htm , I am pretty sure all brake kit packages have ADR approval. I am not posting this to criticize you about buying that kit, more advising that your kit is not good value to modify to fit an X series, you would have been better off fitting that one to the E series. Keep us updated on how you end up bolting it up, takes some photos along the way too please.
