Has anyone done or had done a clutch replacement in a BA T5 manual?
I've done some research and ringing around, to find the following: - its a 1300 to 2000 dollar job - some new suppliers (exceedy to name 1) reckon they dont do a heavy duty replacement clutch, as you cant change out the self adjusting assembly. - i got onto adelaide clutch - 'extreme' brand - they do a heavy duty or a heavy duty button package for around 1000 (parts only) - local ford dealership want to charge 2100 for a newy, std only. dont know whats going on there. 1. Should I replace the slave cylinder aswell? Is this a must? 2. Button clutch sounds fun, but how driveable are they? recommendations?? (fairly stock 4.0L- non turbo) 3. Any other suppliers of H/D clutches for the T5? Would like to hear from anyone that has knowledge or experience. Cheers

crikey,
last time I got a clutch in a car it was about $500 installed for a special heavy duty job. I would not expect the slave cylinder to be a problem. I would expect a clutch to be maybe $300-400 for a kit so removal , machining flywheel and refitting should be no more than 3 hours labour or $300? |

labour time is 3.1 hours, plus flywheel machining.
BA clutches are self adjusting within the pressure plate, so any aftermarket clutch needs to do this also, and finally, the slave cylinder forms part of the assembly which holds the thrust bearing etc (ie. no clutch fork on ba's) |
