G'day
Last thursday my clutch started to slip completely. So i bought a new pbr rpm heavy duty model. For months before it began slipping i had this vibration on take off. The clutch joint told me that it was the old clutch wearing out. Now with the new clutch having been in there for 2 days, it has the same vibration again. So what the hell is causing it? Cheers

Was it a proper install or a "clutch joint"?
Did they machine the flywheel? |

Vibration or a shudder? id say its machining needed

List of things causing clutch shudder.
flywheel surface (get machined) Faulty pressure plate(even happens with new items)** Poor fitting (letting gearbox hang on clutch plate before tightening correctly)** poor engine or gearbox mountings(check and replace) worn or loose universal Joints (inspect and replace) poor rear suspension (check springs, shocks, links, BUSHES etc and replace ) Last but not least weak leg muscles resulting in shaking at the knees (similar to knee trembler)

G'day
I did the install my self. Ive done it before with the help of a mates dad who used to be a mechanic. I didn't get the flywheel machined cause the clutch place that i bought it from said that it shouldn't need it. I think that sounds like the problem. I doubt that its engine or gearbox mounts, the unis arn't that old (under 5000km each), its not my legs ( i have tree trunks for legs ) When you say letting it han off the pressure plate before its been tightened what do you mean? I tightened that pressure plate first and then reinstalled the gearbox. Cheers

another thing to add to bobs list is oil or grease on clutch one way to check if it is shudder or flywheel is get a flat road slowly let the clutch out if you should be able to feel it grab in certain spots remember to do this at very low rpm if you have installed a heavy duty clutch it may also take some getting used to as you now have more pressure against the clutch plate try using different rpm when taking off or release a little to get car moving then depress and let out quickly i noticed this helped with mine as my clutch plate has no spring between the plate facings

G'day
I pulled the box out again The spigot bearing in the back of the crank was f**ked, so that wasn't helping at all. The flywheel turned out to be nearly a mm out across the face . Once all back in again (i'm now an expert at pulling it out and putting it back in again ) its now much better. It drives smoothly and has no vibration . Cheers

Cheers Good one mate I hope the list helped always remember to machine the flywheel as this is the trap most home mechanics fall into as they don't have to guarantee their work if it shudders after fitting.
