I just replaced mine with a heavy duty Valeo one from eBay (http://stores.ebay.com.au/Sunbury-Brake ... ore-Clutch). Cost me $235
Some people might recommend some fancy organic type s**t or something...I really don't see the point on using anything other than "standard" on a family car...unless you have some decent engine mods. |

EL XR6 did come with heavy duty clutches...hence why I used one in my XR6...and don't buy from Ford.

I have a PBR RPM Clutch in my EA. It has never had the firewall crack, or the pedal box destroyed. I have simply rerouted the cable to make it smoother.

how does changing the clutch in the box affect the firewall.? If the clutch isn't adjusted properly, the firewall or pedal box can be damaged.

WELL... i replaced my clutch 3 weeks ago(standard valeo- I told him I give it to it occasionly, he said it would be fine)-along with input shaft, week later slipped, took back had new pedal box put in and firewall welded , 2 weeks later slipped!!! Took back in, the mechanic put new clutch(same as above) now slipping again!!!!!! $1,350 all up dammit!!!
He now tells me( "eb's dont go like this, it pumps put more torque then normal you need a HD unit") (prolly coz no cat extrac's, 2.5 all way through, and a good ol 5 speed) I took him for a drive and the clutch slips at around 2,500rpm-3,000rpm-but get this, if you put your foot under the clutch pedal and lift it up it stops slipping!!(yes I put new cable in---TWICE ) i THINK HE EXPECTS ME TO PAY FOR A H/DSPRING/PLATE UNIT) H E L P ! ! he also tells me that he would expect his EL2 XR8 UTE(5SPEED) To slip if he took it to 5, 000rpm- thats not normal!!! right?? I beleive my inline 6 should be able to be taken to redline occasionly, i mean lets face it , it would be f**k if I done it all the time to a relativly standard motor!! But I think a standard duty should do me but obviously not any n sugesstions?

somthing else MUST be wrong, as with the mods youve got you shouldnt be, rooting a new stock clutch in 2 weeks, unless you cant drive
was your flywheel mechined? and the clutchfork not bent? |

typical for the firewall.
Lifting the pedal shouldn't have any affect on the clutch at all.. theres not enough force applied to the fork to do it any favors. I don't get any slip in my stock standard PBR replacement XR 'spec' clutch. Perhaps the yolk the thrust bearing slides on is worn preventing it from returning to a load-less stationary position.

The bloody thing stops slipping when I lift the pedal up with my foot!!! eg: put under the clutch pedal when slips and lift up 1-1.5 inches!!!
I dont know how, or why this happens it just does 2x new clutches 1x new pedal box 1Xnew input shaft (nose cone??) firewall welded 2X new clutch cables i am getting really, really REALLY frustrated with my trusty wagon!!!!! mechanic cannot work out prob!

your clutch probly isnt adjusted properly and the clutch is partially disengaged when your normally driving. and when u pull the pedal up it allows the clutch to properly engage
btw you should be taking the clutch really easy for the first 1000kms
