G'day
Ive now had the gearbox in my wagon changed to a t5 from an ed. Now when i hit 2000-2400rpm the car has a vibration. I'm not sure if its coming from the box or the rear of the car. The other thing that is bothering me is this whining noise, its in all the gears but at its worst in 2nd gear. The box has done 137000. Should i change the oil? Cheers

Is the problem there if you apply the clutch?

was the shaft lined up to the original position at the diff? if it was try flipping it 180 deg at the transmission but keep at original position at the diff. the shaft should have yellow dots on both ends, they represent the lighter side of shaft after balancing and at factory are placed to give a correct system balance.
Also make sure all the transmission mounting bolts are tight. |

Whinning noise when your clutch is engaded (basically when your driving in gear or while you put is OFF the clutch) is probably the bearing - One of 2 possibilities = Pilot or thrust bearing, both are cheap parts (10 bucks or so). But getting the whole box out is a b**ch.
This happened to me a few months ago. Good Luck!

G'day
The tail shaft is out of another car, i have the original, it has the yellow marks on it. The problem being that the diff was changed about a month ago and i dont know where i should have lined it up. The guy that put it in changed the tail shaft to the one that came with the diff. The yolks that go into the gearbox are different on each shaft. The new shaft fits the new box, the other one doesn't. The vibration is at its worst under acceleration. If i leave the clutch out and the car rolls it still does it but not as bad. It does it in 1st and 2nd gear but not in the others. If i put the clutch to the floor it doesn't do it at all. If it were the tail shaft wouldn't it do it all the time at a certain speed. I cant work it out. Cheers

Wheres the spigot bearing. I replaced the bearing on the input shaft of the gearbox if thats what it is.
Could the vibrations be because of a cactas harmonic balancer. Cheers

being a different shaft that you have no idea what it was like before you had it installed it may be wise to have the UJ's checked/replaced and balanced.
