Ever paid a mechanic good $$ only to have them stuff up the repair??
 Ever tried driving your car with the IRS mounts installed the on the wrong sides??  Next time I think I'll save my bucks and stuff things up myself. Cheers Mr220kw |

How can you install IRS mounts on the wrong side of an AU? It's impossible. Don't try an IRS swap at home! It's a PITA

With my last service I asked my mechanic (whose usually really good) to have a look at this rattle coming from my back left, I even said in the note I left that it was something to do with where the handbrake hook thing goes through the dustcover and that they just tightened it to get the RWC when I bought it (even though it was supposed to be properly fixed - rattled a couple of days later).
$45 to have my handbrake tightened and told it is all good; one week later the rattle is back 10x worse....C***.

 , but yes that sucks! id take it back in and make them re do it as it is there fault and they should wear it!

Cheers Mr220kw when your standing in front or behind,too many directions-----drivers side or passenger.labour may have been anyone and you paid the top rate for the workshop\the bigger the shop,the higher the overheads and costs.

The R and L are actually stamped on the body and also are a raised letter on the mounts. So I don't know about too many directions. The boxes the new mounts come in are marked left and right as well. By the way this is the first time I've used this workshop, thought I'd give them a go as they're close to work. Cheers Mr220kw |

If the apprentice does it, thats fine, though each job should be checked over by a qualified mech. |

Cheers Mr220kw you pay that as it normally takes an apprentice longer to do stuff, plus a qualified mechanic needs to be there to give directions and check work. it actually cost a workshop MORE money to have and apprentice working on a car. He also needs to account for the 10 to 13 weeks a year the apprentice at tafe with full pay. He is not making extra money by having an apprentice work on your car. |
