Hi guys
I'm new to these forums and have just purchased a 1996 ford LTD. this car has previously had the SLS setup removed and has been converted to standard springs and shocks by pedders in Perth by the previous owner, however the check suspension warning light and beep is still active, and is driving me insane. I was wondering if any of you ford gurus could shed some light on how to eliminate the SLS warning. Thanks |

Has the SLS Pump been removed from the engine bay? - from Memory, simply unplugging it should disable the alarm

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but what does it look like and how would I go about disconnecting it?

It should be located underneath the battery (under the drivers side guard). Its the only thing there, if anything is. You may have to carefully remove the plastic covers (phillips head, and 10mm nuts) and just unplug it if its there.

Some stuff (like ABS and airbag stuff) will bring a light on if a connector is unplugged as a warning to say something has either failed or is unplugged...
Simplest way to remove the glowing lamp would be to whip the cluster out and pull the globe... That'll learn it... Cheers, Tim

If you take the globe out, the beeper will still sound.

I found this out when I fitted the NF dash to mine and pulled the globe out, took me a while to work out what was going on LOL.

The suggestion to unplug was simply because the Fairmonts have the Wiring for SLS in their Harness - with the connectors just taped up. I believe the clusters for fairmont and ghia are the same (although fairlane isnt) - so figured it should be right
and yes - for Doors, and the Washer and Water level sensors you need resistors Nigel |

I know the fuse has been pulled on mine and there is no warning light. |

The compressor is disconnected. Where is the fuse located? So I can take it out.
Thanks |

thats the one!. Forgot thats where the smarts were.
Otherwise - SLS Fuse should be under panel to the right of the steering column (the one that pulls out). that panel is immediately above the bonnet release Nigel |
