Ok so ive got a Manual EF XR6.
its been driving very well for awhile now, its got a heavy duty clutch. VERY heavy. its like trying to kick a rock out of the ground hahah anyway, it started getting really hard to select gears, so we kept adjusting the clutch cable. couple days ago, it stopped selecting any gears at all. i tried starting it in gear and it shook like hell and stalled pretty quick. so got underneath it today, pulled the cable out, when i opened the dust cover a small bolt fell out. anyway the cable seems fine, just its missing the inner plastic tubing on some bits, but the cable isnt frayed at all. so then i got under again, took the dust cover off so i could have a better look. The clutch fork looks straight, everything looks normal except the rubber bit inside the fork? its as if its been pulled out abit. Im thinking this is the problem?? heres a pic to give you guys a better view.. anything else i should be checking for? also where is the clutch cable supposed to bolt down onto? thanks |

looks like u found the problem or part of it
the cable normally bolts along the x member under the engine have a look too at your firewall where the cable goes thru to the pedals as they can crack there and need bracing. the pin on the end of the pedal where the cable joins onto can also snap the welds also check the main clutch pedal pivot on the pedal box cause they can crack there too |

A clutch cable in good condition should slide very easily. If not, ditch it, get a new one.
That small bolt, what does it look like??? The clutch fork is held in place with a small allen socket " shoulder bolt". There is also a small plate that is held with the shoulder bolt, that the fork pivots on. These wear out too.
