Hi guys. I've been lurking here for a while now, and I finally have a question. I can't really pick which forum I should be posting this in, so feel free to move it.
Anyway, I have an 05 BA MKII xr8 ute...with a slow leak in my back tyre, and you know how utes have the spare tyre underneath? WELL, how do I get the stupid retainer out from the wheel? I lowered the wheel down with the winchy thing, but now I just have a wheel dangling off my car by a steel cable. In exchange for help, here's a pic of said car: Attachment:

OK well this is awkward, I just went out and fiddled some more and I got it out. Man I wouldn't like to be on the side of a freeway trying to work this out. Also the wheel barely makes it passed the rear skirt...
ARGH so now I have a new problem, I've only got the thing that undoes the lock nut. Not the other nuts. *Sigh* Last edited by Elf on Sun May 10, 2009 4:43 pm, edited 1 time in total. |

Wasnt too hard was it lol
My predicament though is, it was raining when i took the spare wheel out to change a flat so just tightened it back up without the flat back underneath and has now gotten stuck. I cant wind it back down is there anyway to fix this?? |

Maybe it needs some weight on it when you wind it down?

I may be scrawney but was giving it a good yank while winding and still wasnt budging only bending the rod insert!

Damn. Cos I just wound up the thing without a wheel on it as well.
Took me freaking ages but I can finally check "change a spare" off the list of manly things to do. |
