yes, but with a twist..

heres the thing

drove down for new years to apollo bay...

sus is stock, had 4 ppl in the car, 2 bags of cloths and 1 box of cherries..

the car sooo heavy around great ocean road but the worst thing was when i was pushin 120-130 and there was a lil bump in the raod, the rear scraped.. when i pulled into town (apollo bay) carparks, driveways it scraped..

when i got out of the car, the rear was sitting like superlows so it got my thinging this...

beacuase the car is HEAVY (1700kgs + LPG tank) should i get either'

#1 Superlows and hard shocks (but then loose the fairlane feel)

#2 Lows and keep the same shoks (will look better and still feel like a fairlane)

thanks for the help

well definately don't keep the same shocks when you put lower springs in.
as for the rest - depends what you do with the car.

This happens to so many, in the rush to look sik moit, it by passes their minds that it may not be practicable, it will scrape, and bottom out, also dont bodge it, if your going to lower it, do it properly, shocks and springs, i dont do mine because it would scrape, it is frequently loaded up, simple really.

Well I wasnt in the rush to be "sik moit" but it did slip my mind about it not being practicle with 5 people in the car.

I had my EF GLi and my EL Fairmont Ghia lowered professionally on superlows and you cant really have 5 adults in the car. Car will scrape on everything including bumps in the road when travelling at 100kph.

Also not very practicle for towing so if you lower it you may as well get rid of the tow bar if you have one.

meh - mine (surprisingly) goes pretty well with 5+ people in the car! its just the front guard which rubs, but thats due to the stuffed front left shock - you just have to know how to drive it

Yeah mate i wouldnt be looking at any superlow option if u regularly carring a full car load (people or oitherwise) espesciallly since the LPG setup.

Although when u say its scraping...where is it scraping,,,at the bump stops....gurds rubbin out...exhaust....or mud splash gurds etc....it maybe something small like if u want superlows having your guards rolled professionally a fair bit...if its mud splash gurads etc remove me or cut/mod em....if its the exhaust sittin to low like it is for me then get it changed and lifted...pyroay had to have this done and i'll be doing it soon...good execuse for new mandrel bent one too hehe ;)

So depends on where its scraping and how often the cars gonna be under heavy weights

Do many people have problems with the earlier e series? I dont often have a car load of people, but when i do its normally four or so. Not cool. All i can see now is having to stop at the speed bumps and kick everyone out!

its quite easy really if you want a car with superlows get some of your passengers to drive themselves. I had no probs telling people sorry 2 passengers max. And mine had lows and the exhaust bottomed out if bottoming out is such a big problem for you keep the car stock.

Yeah most guys with superlows are hearing the exhuast scrubbing out...theres plenty of room to have the rear section raised and isnt hugely expensive either.

I can have full car and not small ppl either going fine in my fairlane with superlows.
That being said its not an AU and fact is the fairlane stock springs are so soft that when you load it up, yes it will sit at superlow height, BUT it was also travel alot more than the lowered suspension setup would.
Honestly od it properly, get some superlows for looks and handling and then get some real good shocks to take care of it all n keep the fairlane comfort so its nit like a go kart.
Recomend koni or bilstein shocks for handling AND comfort..

My FUtura is on superlows with a tow abr, usually carries 2 adults and 2 sets of golf clubs and dont have any issues unless its a big bummp/steep drivway entrencae.

I mean.. the wheel touches the guard when going over a bump or turning.. terrible stuff.
