just remember, when replacing the gears, you must do the pinon gear too.

Also, just make sure that the wear marks on the diff crown & pinon gears match up .. otherwise you'll forever have a whinging diff, Also, make sure you algin the shimm back in there orignal place.

I'm using penright 'lim-slip' oil in mine, never had a problem ... and running a 3.08:1 LSD.

I have a Ef XR6 with 3.7 LSD.
I love the ratio as it hasnt hurt my fuel economy in any way, but given more take off. I use a 23 tooth, black, speedo gear but my speedo is only out by 2 kms.
My speedo says 100 but the car is actually doing 98kmh.
This is the best that can be got because there are no other gears with 24 teeth.

As far as I know all or most standard E-Series falcons are out by3 km's when leaving the factory, on purpsoe.

I don't think it would be on purpose. I just think Ford didn't know a way or couldn't be bothered finding a more accurate way of getting correct speedo readings..

Almost all cars speedos are out by about 2-3 at 100. If you sit on 100 by your speedo and everything is exactly as built including tyre pressures then you will most likely be doing about 98k's.
Don't use skyline gears, excellent cars but the diffs were a big problem for noise, I seriously doubt that there would be any r31's getting around without diff noise, unless they spent some good money on smoe decent gears....
