Hi!

Was talking to a mate last night about painting brake callipers on my fairmont. Do I need special heat resitant paint? Or will any old paint do?

I don't want to use the wrong paint and then my callipers start to peel cos of the heat generated by the brakes.

Thanks!

Personally I would be using High temp paint, to-be sure, to-be sure.

yeah definately get some High temp paint, like VHT.
You've just gotta think, your brakes are gonna get pretty hot, even slowing down, driving slowly.
If you've got time, spray your hubs silver or something that takes your fancy as well,\. Cause in my opinion it finishes it off really well, if you're spraying the calipers.

VHT make a range, or hi temperature paints, they also make one specially called Brake Paint, that'd be the way to go!
Just make sure you don't paint the shinny part of the brake discs and the brake pads - like some other retard on one of the forums a while ago!

Daniel, I doubt you could get a metalic red to match your bodywork, and so a different red would look odd in my opinion! I'd go a dark blue or something like that if you wnat them to stand out and still get noticed, otherwise just black or grey. Actually silver might look alright?

the tickford wings wear off often on fbts, i dont think its a huge loss, you can always make a stencil n put it back on after; i might try that over the red in white - that'd look nice.
It will all take time tho, but i dont wish for them to stay the way they are, barely noticable that its got nice brakes.
