I want to waer them out a bit first $230 for front brakes pads is not fun, and that is my next plan, either ultimates or the redstuffs.

Ultimates feel nice with the single pot calipers and standard discs.
But the dust is horrible. Even a 5 minute drive around town, NO hard braking, and not only have my fronts got a coating, even my rear rims are lightly dusted... You tried a brake fluid flush as well? Better fluid doesn't last as long, absorbs more water. I've been trying to do mine every 6 months.

Havent changed the fluid, the old pads (don't know what they were) did not have this issue, was only after putting the greens in.

At least it lets you know that there's plenty of airflow around teh discs so they can get reasonable cooling! |

sadly that also means lots of water on brakes on rainy days

G'day
After driving around my 330 and twin pistons i would say upgrade the size of the discs and calipers if you want real performance. The slotted discs will make a difference if you are stopping hard going through some twisty roads. But if you are only doing round town stuff just upgrade the pads, talk to someone like race brakes to get a professional opinion. Cheers

good pads = dust.
Not much you can do about it. The action of braking casues dust. How much depends on how good the brakes are. Deal with it. One tip I've found is with my wheels, polish them (quality car polish) do a good job, and the brake dust is much easier to clean off, often requiring nothing more that a once over with a paper towel. edit: noticed you've got GT's too. Give the wheels a GOOD clean, then brake out the polish (not wax it'll melt). Next time to clean your wheels will be much easier.

You probably don't want new rotors then (expensive). I just got new DBA Slotted Rotors for my EL - will be putting these on in the next few months. Tomorrow I'm going down to ABS and getting a set of Lucas pads. IMHO Lucas pads are about as good as EBC Green-Stuff, with better cold bite and less dust. I had both sets of pads on my R33 Skyline, and I found Lucas to be better value for money. They don't fade and only felt weak when they were really FUBAR! Lucas pads from ABS (for EL Fairmont) are... ~$55 - Front ~$50 - Rear So it'll be good to see how they go in the heavier EL (compared to skyline)! Even if I do find them to be crap... it's not like I've spend $300+ on EBC! |

That's either a REALLY good price on Lucas, or you're getting regular pads. I run the up spec lucas pads, and agree, they're a good pad, but I wouldn't say they're low dust.

Good luck on it not raining all weekend, looks as though it is going to be a wet one.
That is a sensational price on the lucas, as stated they must be the standard ones or I am getting ripped big time. The upmarket ones for the pulsar cost me $79 for the fronts and that was supposed to be at mates rates. |

I have the slotteds, but i got em for nothing of a mates wrecked car, the only reason i said they didnt do much is cause i noticed no difference when i put em on, and a mechanic i know reckons they are mainly for looks, but he's dodgy [/code]
