Hello Fellow Fordmod Members
Can someone explain to me where abouts on a EB model Fairmont I can find the pistons for the rear brakes. I want to see if the pistons are stiking and hold on slightly the parking brake. Also can someone tell me what I have to do to be able to spin the rear wheel by hand with the car jacked up. I have tried with the car in neutral and the parking brake off, but I can't seem to get it to move. Is this because of the LSD ?? |

if both wheels are jacked up it the wheels should turn, maybe with a little resistance..

pistons are inside the calipers, they are what pushes the brake pad out towards the disc.
I spose, get under it, spose take the wheel off too, then just look into the caliper, along the disk. |

if you can get your hands on or borrow a hydrualic trlooey jack then jack the car up from the diff housing too get both wheels of the ground then rotate the back wheels one at a time. they shuld spin fairly easily with minimal resistance. if theyre quite hard too turn then back the handbrake cable off a touch then repeat the above.also check for uneven wear on the pads. if one side is worn more than the other then your calipers are sticking and will need to be serviced
