I'm pretty sure BAmk2 onwards got the 322mm brakes standard

268 - 322 plus twin pistons = big improvement. Better still 4 pistons from a Jaguar or Disco. I think Disco calipers may be a huge improvement from a common part if you have a 4wd wrecker nearby? I was going to see how much I can get them for but got sidetracked and forgot all about them.

Thats a pretty trick brake setup, but very expensive too.
But then again you have top of the line parts there so quality is top notch. Great work guys

Nice work, GMKILA at AFD had a nice set of brakes as well, what size are his as he spent a fair few bucks on them
There is really no market for Big Brakes with E-Series as the end cost is too expensive unless you sell a set for under $1,000 thats why TONY at UPC is not in any rush to get the offset corrected, money talks........ The people with the money to spend get it done right, like this one and GMKILA

If you have a look at Mr spares EBAY brake upgrade listing you will find that most upgrades AVERAGE PRICE just for front brakes is $1500.00. So when UPC ask for $1795.00 for a kit i think its pretty good value but were the problem sits is the OFFSET My oppinion to overcome this is to have 2 kits available which you can have STANDARD OR AU onwards OFFSET If people dont want to spend more than $1000.00 then stick with slotted rotors, high temp pads and braided lines for that sort of budget and you will have at least 25% better braking and possibly meet most people's needs. I think in tjb45 case i think he is pretty full on with his machine as u can see with not only the brake setup but suspenion too.

I think you may have some issues there mate, as the swept area of the pad is less than that of the rotor. I would believe that you would need a larger pad area, as from the bottom of the pad to the hat there is alot of unused rotor, causing a step in rotor wear, and alot of surface area going to waste.
By the look of the pics, the pad only covers 2/3 of the rotor. |

Your not going to get a kit that retains the standard offset and gives bigger brakes. I wouldn't of thought it would be that hard for Tony to extend the offset of his kits by 15mm either side. Surely the fact that it has a ridiculous offset is severly hurting sales for him - I know I was preped and ready to buy until I found out about the offset issue. |

Doesn't take a genious to work out that Tony isn't selling many of the E-series brake upgrades due to the fact that it leaves a stupid offset. Having a more reasonable and workable offset such as that of AU onwards would greatly increase his sales. Even if he got a system using a decent spacer it would help - needs to push the wheels out 15mm either side - I've spocken to some engineers who make hubadapters and they have said minimum width of a hub adapter is 20mm. I would of thought that if he fitted longer studs and make a decent wheel spacer with a center wheel support it would be alright. |

Race brakes sydney has a kit that retains standard offset. I think the RRP is $2000.00 and is featured in the DVD of street fords. Like i said the main issue is OFFSET and the best option is to either to either have STANDARD OR AU ONWARDS OFFSET OR BOTH and keep everyone happy. Personally id be going to the AU onwards as alot more wheels available which look alot nicer than E series offsets.

By the look of the pics, the pad only covers 2/3 of the rotor. Good Pick up, I was waiting for someone to notice that. Its been a bit of an over sight, with no really simply or cheap solution. Given the pads are still on the outside of such a large disk I'm not sure if it will be effect the performance to much. It'll be interesting to see if it causes any cracking issues with all the heat on the outer 2/3 of the disk. |
