Im after some opinions on what might be wrong with the steering on my car. I was over in Melbourne for a few days too watch the football and while cruising around on Friday i did a full lock u-turn, now i have absoutley no power steering at all. Steering fluid is full and no leaks and no noises from the pump, belt is ok. Its an EL gli its done 90k, i thought the pumps would last longer than that. After driving it for the last 3 days which included driving back to Adelaide with no power assist i feel like my arms are going to fall off. Any suggestions on fixing my problem would be very much appreciated. thanks

Probably a worm out pump (internal leakage). Have a look on ebay for a reco pump, I saw them for about $50.00.

It could be a fair few different things. But if fluid is fine, i would say it is blocked somewhere.

On the back of pump where High Pressure hose fits, is a 1" nut. Well it looks like a a nut, behind it is a valve. Check the valve and clean it out.

If you feel like gettin dirty, take off the return line(small hose) and put it into a coke bottle. Start the car, if the coke bottle fills, no blockage and the veins will most likely be rooted.

Anyways, I sell them for $75, no changeover.

Luthor......who the hell has them for $50????

hes just a one off seller, as he has baby goods n s**t....he bought the rong pump, and was stuck with it.....i sell them for a living, as well as AC comps....so I would have to boast that I have a bit more knowledge than him, and plus, I at least give a warranty :)

I was just doing a simple u turn. There was noise or vibration when i did the turn, i just lost all power assist. Drove car back from Melbourne to Adelaide and took pump off and found that. Looks like it was just the tension of the belt that kept the pully in place and not have it flying around under the bonnet.
