Spec for an EL is mobilfluid 424. Most of the other brands have an equivalent.

Its not fast, but it works. Have the front wheels off the ground.
A 1.25lt softdrink bottle will just fit down in behind the P/S pump and ALT.
Take the return hose off and point it in the bottle. Have a cap to cap off the fitting where the hose went onto the pump.
Now turn the steering wheel, engine off, from lock to lock a couple of times, then fill up the res. on the pump.
Start the engine, till pump starts to make a noise, about 5-7 secs.
Reconnect the hose, refill, run engine, & turn L to L again, about 5 times.
Put hose back in bottle, & start engine, till it makes a noise again.
Fill it up again, start again. Do this about 3 times.
Check the colour of the fluid.
By the way, your EL should've had 424 in it to start with.
Ford started using R1-424 in Feb 96 on the EFII.
