Driving home last I found out I had no power steering when I did very slow turns/u-turns but was fine at speed (30+km/h). When I got home I found that the power steering pump had blown fluid out of the top and the the level low. I think this is a result from driving up the Kuranda range with a lot of enthusiasm and high revs for 6 minutes.
Has anybody had this happening to them? Im going to buy some new fluid now and fill it up and hope that it was just overheating and not blown it's seals... |

the pressure control valve in the pump might be stuffed.

Ok... Well I just filled it up and it made no difference. But I have taken the protective cover over it and I now hear a stupid "whirl" sound from the pump when I apply revs and try to turn the steering wheel. So it can be the pressure valve or the pulley...
