G'day all, I have an xk falcon which I have fitted a pre cross flow 250 to with a heavy duty 3 speed manual behind it. The problem is that I run out of revs very quickly with the 3 speed and tend to consume a rather large amount of fuel on the highway. I would like to fit a 5 speed out of an Xf if I could. The 250 and 3 speed is out of a 67 fairlane. I have converted to a cable clutch and have already modified the cross member to take the hd 3 speed.
Will the bellhousing of the 5 speed ( 250 crossflow) fit the pre crossflow 250? or would I be able to fit the 5 speed to my existing bellhousing? What length difference is there in the 5 speed set up compared to the hd 3 speed? Will I need to swap tailshafts?

If anyone can help I would be very greatful.

All that power (compared to the old 144cid) and no legs to give it a run........... Funny how a 3 on the tree can kill performance..........

i'm not 100% on this, but IIRC the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same

dunno about the tailshaft either, but it wouldnt hurt to get a new tailshaft in there

more power eh? just wait till you can find a 2V head for it!
