Didn't think you could go more than 7" wide wheels in WA unless its standard equipment (or a factory option)? http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/licensing/myvehicle/safe/modifications/tyre.html In any event, rim width shall not exceed 177.8 mm (7") unless specified by the manufacturer as standard equipment for the vehicle in question. No increase in rim width is permitted for vehicles fitted with original equipment rims in excess of 177.8 mm (7") width. Problem is most of the decent looking 17" pre-au alloys are 7-7.5" wide :(

The rims Daniel is using are the factory fitted Tickford Speedlines which are 17" by 7.5" as the tyre plaquard states. The EL GT rims are 17" by 8.5" and fill out the guards far better than the FBT speedlines and the lowered ones still dont have too many clearancing issues. Personally Daniel - I would not roll your guards. One day you will want to sell it and it is something that is hard to undo properly - the wheels tuck far enough in that you shouldn't need too.

rolling is ok providing done properly.. dont cut it with angle grinder and push in with hammer. = bad. ( to mates car)
make sure someone has a proper roller.. theyre fkn expensive to buy apparently so not many places have them. and making them is tricky. ring around see if someones got one.. but its worth it to get them to do it. it wont affect resale, cos its just the underside lip thats affected .,. doesnt make the car look diff or anything.

Ive got Whiteline Super Lows (lowered by 65ml) and Pedders double action gas shocks. with 17" x 8" rims with 245 x 45's and dont have any probs at all. probably some of the reason why I don't scrub at all is that whiteline springs are about 25% stiffer tha King super lows and also my shocks are very stiff also. not a cumfy ride at all, but if you love driving in a straight line then cornering is now a passion.

mine were scrubbing bad at the drivers side. i took to it with a rubber mallet.. worked wonders like you wouldnt believe.. no paint cracks that i can see and the panel stayed in shape perfectly. took like 6 hits with the rubber mallet. i'll show a photo if i can be f**k taking my wheel off again
but yea say no to hammers. |

My EL is lowered with superlows, and has 17x8's wrapped in 235 rubber. I dont have any problems with rubbing at all. I do have lowered Monroe GT Gas shocks in the front though. The only problem I have is my exhaust rubbing on my panard rod with people in the back

I have the stock 17 inch rins on my xr8 and have pedders superlows that i compressed by another 30mm and i have no problems with thetyres rubbing the guards only the exhaust scrapes on uneven roads superlows will be fine theyre not too low anyway they only take away that huge ugly gap that comes with factory suspenision
