OK, come to the crunch now, im planning on going king superlows or lovell superlows in the fbt, and have spoken to a few people about how low i can go before i start mashing and rubbing on the front gaurds with my 17" x 7.5" rims!
Ive been getting mixed answers so id like ot hear from anyone out there who might have already lowered their cars with 17/18"rims and if they have had any probs with it. Thanks a heap in advance!

People have had bigger rims (bigger than 17") with no problems.. Only problem you MAY have is tyre hitting on guard if you're THAT low.

I'm currently running Kings SuperLows on the front and Kings Lows on the rear of my 5L ED Fairmont (with LPG tank).
Was running 17x7.5" with 235/45's all round with no problems. Just changed over to 18x8's with 235/40's all round, again no problems. Being a different offset with different guard shapes, your mileage may vary. Fester |

OK, so now ive decided on superlows for sure, lovells i think ill try this time around if i can get them at good price.
Will i need to replace my shocks, i mean they are as new now and handle great, its just the spring height im not happy with. New shocks a must?

yep, ultralows are available but said to be very unreccomended for street use due to their lack of suspension travel.

Whiteline superlows, 17x8" with 235x45 all round.
Fronts DO rub the guards under heavy braking/turning. Have to get them rolled, as I've gotten some tyre damage from the guards cutting in. I think the whiteline superlows is a 60mm drop. Although the back is higher than the front. Pics on my site in sig.

How low would anyone go if you use the car everyday ?

Well, i use my cars each day..
I have lows in the front and s'lows in the rear of my sportsman, v good handling and sits flat no matter what pretty much. Only thing is thats on 16" rims and this is 17", so i worry about the front tyres are you say cutting into the gaurds. The height is only a problem with speedhumps at my local shopping center, thats it - and yes i go there often working there, but i can get around em at least.

I wouldn't change what I've got - handling is absolutely amazing. Taking tight roundabouts at the speed limit is a great way to overtake here in Canberra.
