Hi All,

I am fitting a Mal Woods underdash conversion to my T3 TS50:
https://malwoodauto.com.au/product/ford ... -assembly/

Has anyone fitted one of these to an AU? (These originally use a cable clutch).

I have a few problems: neither the rubber hose for the reservoir nor the braided line for the slave cylinder fit thru the firewall hole used by the original cable. Only option I can see is enlarge the old cable hole for one of them, plus make a new hole for the other ... which seems like a bad idea.

There does seem to be a spot intended to be a hole, next to the steering column shaft. See pic attached. Is it safe to drill through this? The kit comes with 2 grommets that seem like they are intended for this purpose.

Other issue is mounting the reservoir. I thought I had solved this by fitting the supplied bracket in place of the alarm siren ... but then found it sits too high, does not clear the bonnet.

Solutions to my problems:

1. Went through the firewall as indicated by red X next to steering column in previous photo. Hole is large enough so both the rubber hose and braided line fit. Comes out a bit too close to exhaust, but some heat shielding will solve that.

2. Mal Wood sent a second bracket to try, that fits on the other side of the brake booster. It also does not work however because of the cruise control module. I made a suggestion of another location and Mal made another bracket, and sent along with a hose extension. Now its all good :-)

Bonnet clearance here would be an issue with the sound proofing lining the bonnet underside, but I removed that a while back, so it fits fine. As far the the look goes it is not ideal, but will do for now.

Note: Mal Woods did not charge for the brackets, nor for postage from QLD to VIC. Thanks Mal!
