G'day,
Can anyone let me know what would cause the brake pedal to pulsate? I have noticed it a few times moreso when slowing down from 100kph to 60kph, pulsations seem to be increasingly worse. I've just had the discs replaced about 2 maybe 2 and half years ago. Peter |

either the disc's have warped or the caliper is not sliding as it should or disc's have worn incorrectly. check it out as soon as possible as after two years the pads/disc's need to be inspected for wear.

Usually a pulsating pedal will be the rear discs need machining, and a steering wheel shudder when braking will be the front discs need machining.

Probably cheaper to replace discs with new instead of machining especially with Ford AUII

Replaced all discs and brakes, no more shudder or brake pedal pulsation. All good |

I fixed that problem forever on my AUIII, I replaced the discs and calipers with the territory type (322mm front and 328mm rear), the braking was increased very measurably and the chance of the "pulse" through the brake pedal was 99% eliminated. I did the same thing to my mates FGII XR6. I think Ford should have bitten the bullet with the WHOLE BF/FG range and put them on the cars as standard, would have only required them to change all the wheels to a minimum of 17" to accommodate the calipers and increased disc diameter.

Do you have 16" wheels? I've got 16" wheels on my AUII, perhaps I should do the same? Don't suppose you got the link for those discs and calipers? |

You would be much better off with 17" as I don't think 16" will clear the Calipers mainly on the front?
It is not a cheap change over if you use New parts. You will need to change the front Calipers and replace the rear calipers. You would be looking at around $1000.00 to do it new but, you should be able to get the setup from a wrecker? Would be very much cheaper. You may also have to change the front brake hoses and the rear ones? I did it anyway as I got the new hoses cheap  Rear Discs Front Discs and Pads Front Calipers Rear Calipers |

Ok, thank's for the additional information regarding upgrade. I did not think Ford AU's came out with 17" wheels. Looks like tyres will have to be changed too. If I know which Vehicle has the 17" wheels. Definitely will be sourcing wreckers where possible. I never thought of the brake hoses, good point to remember. Cheers |

The XRs had 17" Wheels standard Bondy.

Thanks for letting me know 93EB, I'll be looking at wreckers to source them if I can.
Would the 17" wheels fit the AUII without modifications for clearance and turning? |

They will be fine mate. My dad has an AU2 Ghia that had factory 16 inch wheels. He now has AU2 XR8 17s on it. They fit straight on with no mods.
Personally i dont mind 17s. Also running them on my EB that had standard 15 inch wheels factory.
