EL XR6 is basically identical mechanically to the EL GLi/Futura sapphire. Just swap it straight over.

There are some MINOR differents inside the engine and possibly on the interior too being a late EL 'Sapphire'.

the xr's have a different mounting point on the diff for the upper control arm,it sits further back, u will need to xr upper arms, or u can possibly mount the original sapphire arms in the front mounting holes to keep the correct pinion angle.
also need to change the speedo driven gear if the new diff has a different ratio

All EL diffs have both standard and XR mounting holes drilled into the bracket.

If you keep the non XR arms, you just have to slide the captive nut up to the stock position and mount the arm there. Job done.

If you want the XR rear end setup, you'll have to source some XR arms, but its not needed straight away.

And you'll need the grey speedo gear if you have 15's or 17', or a black one if you have 16's.

Otherwise its a direct bolt up. Couple of hour job.

thanks guys,
1 more thing, i have completely forgotten about having to change the speedo gear. Ive got 18" rims on my car and it has not thrown my speedo out at all... I will be going from a standard diff and the standard gears(3.08 from memory), to an LSD with 3.45's... which speedo gear will i need, where can i get 1 from and how much do they cost.
Cheers

Prob still the grey one.

If the 18's didnt alter the speedo from the standard 15's (im assuming) then the rolling diametre sounds the same. So only need to cater for the diff, which the grey sear will.

its on the speedo sender unit up near the back of the trans, higher up than the white neutral safety switch (its an auto, yeah?) they usually have a red sheath(wiring protector) over the wiring. it has 1x 8mm headed bolt holding them into the trans.
