Dont want / ned 5/6 gears but do need at least 4, most of the strong auto stuff reccomended aso far is only 3 which will not do.

That 1370nm is suppised to be devided throught your diff ratio assuming is 3.5 (simple example) that makes ur real number 391nm. I had 1711nm at the treads before I moded a few things and I was stoaked till I did the math
1711 / 4.11 = 416Nm (pre mods)

forgot to add, atleast thats how I had it all explained by some crusty old engine bloke a few years back now, so might not be 100% accurate, if anyone knows better please fill us in, would really like to know the maths on that one

Thats not correct i think he's maths is a litle off. I dont know the exact formula myself but it euqates to more than 400nm as i've had ti calculated before.
I'll try and find out.

I've spoken with you before about this and for 500rwkw i think mal wood T56 6 speed was gonna be the only realistic option.
If you like I'd still give Joe at crescent motorsports a call...hes a top bloke and knows his s**t. Ive spoken to him about a C4 and beefing up my current BTR auto to hold at least 350rwkw for now and hes been really good about it. If you are gonna be trying to go this far I'd be pricing up a strengthened tailshaft and diff mods

Thanks i remember our discussion and looks like i am going to go the T56 way. Autos have a few drawbacks for me, such as 3rd gear reving at 110km which is where mist of my driving occurs. Plus i likew the idea of a manual, dont care much about 1/4 mile times...

Besides she has her own car which is tidy enough for a daily drive. Thats one seriously nice car your wife has got! I actually quite like the look of it, plain and simple, yet really really nice

Ok finally an update on the system,.
- T56 is in and running - 11†Ceramatelic clutch (Hydrolic) - Lightened Steel Flywheel - Strengthened Custom Steel Tailsharft - Short shift – shifter configuration Gear ratios are the same as T5 1-4 and then 5 and 6 are either side of where the old 5th gear was. This combo is rated for daily use at 500rwkw + so my old clunker should be pretty safe given that I’ll never really get that power to the ground. Clutch is quite light in comparison with the previous one and quite quick to engage just an inch or so off the floor. Gears are close ration and a custom shifter allows quick selection.. PICS Steel Tailsharft (BLACK) Total Cost was $8,250 for parts I spent about 10hrs of my labour installing it + about 10hrs of mechanic labour (hoist time etc…) so in total around 20hrs…

just to answer the formula for torque.. well one of the ways of doing it is torque = horsepower * 5252 / RPM
So, if you have 200HP at 3000 rpm then you have 200*5252/3000 which equals 350.13Nm of torque at 3000 rpm. And by the way very nice choice of gearbox...manuals are more fun anyway . Let us know how it goes and how the ratios feel compared to the last box. Cheers
