Hi crew, i have managed to pick up a 3.45 ratio LSD out of an EL Fairmont Ghia six cylinder. I have a 'standard' EL Fairmont with a 3.08 ratio single spinner. The 3.45 ratio LSD is still in the wrecked Ghia but the car has had side impact damage and looking at the wheel on the damaged side of the car looks like it could be bent (like negative camber), but it could be my dodgy eyesight haha, but to make sure i need to ask some questions.
My questions are: Do the axle housings unbolt from the diff centre housing? If i find that the 3.45 ratio axle housings are fine and the axle is bent, will my axles out of the 3.08 diff fit the 3.45? Will the 3.45 ratio diff centre (pinion, crown gear etc) fit into the 3.08 diff centre housing and axles? Okay, i think i have worded all the questions right, if not please ask me to explain the situation more clearly. Cheers guys and gals for your help! |

Housing is welded to the centre.
Axles are the same. Centre slightly smaller in the 3.08 (needs to be ground to fit 3.45's i've been told)

Mine has a 3.08 ratio.
Thanks for the info Krytox. What exactly needs to be 'ground' away for it to fit in the 3.08 housing? |
