i have a 2005 BA xr6 turbo ute MK2 and the axel tube has come out of the center housing on the diff.
my question is, are the diff housings the same on all BA's? or will i have to try and find an exact xr6 turbo diff housing to replace my broken housing. Because i cant find a xr6 turbo diff any where in australia where i have rung, they only have standard BA diffs which they want $1000 for still. cheers |

XR6T, XR8 and FPV run an M86 not the M78 that the lesser power variants run.

67RCE is right, XR6T/XR8/FPV have the same diff housing (ratio's differ) I'm not sure, but think factory 3v V8's get the M86 too.
Unsure about utes, but BF sedan diff's have a different pinion flange to the BA's. Swap it around and they'll fit up too.

Turbo utes use the same as the V8 up till 30/09/20058 BAC 4010A $2,590.00
and from 01/10/2005 the V8 32V turbo and XR (with 6 speed auto) BAFC2 4010B $2,184.00. Bugger, they are so dear for just a hosuing. |

damn i cant believe how expensive and hard to find these diffs are. i guess anybody who owns a xr6T or xr8 ute is probly gonna need a new diff sooner or later. i mite just have to pull the current diff housing and re weld the axle tube back into the center if i cant buy one for a reasonable price.

Why not get in touch with a local Ford dealer and see if this was a problem on the ute? They are Borg Warner diffs and it wouldn't be the first time something has gone wrong with their products. If no joy with your dealer, try writing to Ford Mtr Co in Victoria. You NEVER know, they may know of the problem and it might get you either a new diff housing or yours repaired? |
