hey guys ,
today i decided to have a good look at my diff that i am considering rebuilding. a few questions

a/ is the current 3:08:1 a good ratio for a base moded n/a el i6 sedan

b/i am unsure weather or not i have lsd .the complete housing is sittin on the ground both discs spin if i lock one the other spins.cause im pretty sure it only threw single leggers . but never realy did any burnouts before i put the 18"ers and complete suspension upgade modifications.it drifted good but i never hit o/l or felt diff change wheels (like in my au's or ba's ,or tank slapped like a f'n vs coomon whore.
maybey im just becoming a better driver...lol

thanx felow blue oval worshippers

Unless it's stuffed it's not LSD. With a good LSD when you spin one wheel the other wheel will spin the other way and if you lock one wheel it will be very hard to turn the other wheel.

^^^WHS.

I don't think 3.08 diffs ever came out in LSD. 3.23 onwards came out in LSD. Diffs which are LSD usually have a tag on it anyway...well they should.

I say 3.45s are better :P. I have 3.23 and it's good on the highway and on the roads behind a T5. If you want good launch with an auto...3.45s is a must IMO.

Are you spinning the disc or the input yolk. If you spin the input yolk on an LSD both wheels will spin in the same direction. If you spin a wheel the other wheel will spin in the opposite direction.

to check if lsd....hold 1 disc and turn the pinion, if the other disc turns it is not lsd...

or

turn 1 disc whilst holding the pinion, if the other disc spins its not lsd

no one would bother keeping the 3.08 ratio...3.45 is the bare minimum for an auto

thanx phongus
the take off had a bit too be desired but once in second omg ,its was the sort of car that you just flat and it goes like the energiser bunny ,same with handling very fast car not so quick to 40 .
smooth accelleration right across the range plus no wheel spin.
beat a ef 5lt station wagon , got flogged by the very very did i say very nice pursuit blue au{not tryin to big note my heap the au was nice} .pretty sure they were both fellow ford modders in maitland area.

it did well for a modded n/a el with bits of efs.but the au lauched nearly off the road to about 20m in front gained to about 30m and thats were we stayed 30m apart for a km or so.
me flat him holy sh*t noisey,if your reading this, nice car well done dude

Like I try to explain to people, i'm getting better mileage from 3.9's than I did with 3.23 but most of my driving is suburban stop/start. 3.45's IMO like most factory options just dont't cut it.

i marked the discs and pinnion thingy and it stop exact on 3 pinion turn to 1 disc turn .
does the 3:08 mean like 3 turns of pinnion makes %80 of a turn on discs ?
